PRACTICALS:
COOKING/BAKING
“The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”
Worker O. Leachman & Sis. Evelyn Gayle saw to that, by teaching us how to prepare exceptional dishes and baking. So young, middle age women COME ON IN. In these days of recession where nothing can be wasted, come and learn what to do with the ‘leftovers’ among other things. Newly weds and all, please, we are waiting for you.
WORKSHOP:
Last year this got off the ground, thanks to Missionary Joy Logan, Sisters Nerissa Robinson, Gloria Findlay and Calda Cooper and others; in our conference October you saw the display of what these ladies had done overtime, eg. Soft furnishings, clothing, bags etc. They meet every Tuesday in the Multi-Purpose Hall, so COME ON IN, learn how to sew your own clothes among other things that could help you to make a little something extra for the pocket. SO COME ON IN.
THE DAUGHTERS OF VIRTUE
Youth Arm within this Department, under the leadership of Exhorter Carol Matthews, Missionary Maurilyn Whittaker and Sis. Tanika Edwards - seeks to encourage young persons to become involved; that the young and the young and heart can work together for the same common cause, SO YOUNG PERSONS COME ON IN.
OUTREACH PROGRAMMES:
Having heard of the devastating fire that destroys the Mustard Communities, we decided to help. We made an appeal in our meetings and was able to make a sizeable donation in the form of clothing, toiletries etc to that Organisation.
Two years ago, on Teachers’ Day we visit the PFM Basic School, spend sometime with the children and made a presentation to the school – this we will pick up this year.
On Boxing Day last year (2009) we visit and fed over 50 persons including staff and patients at the St. Monica’s Home for the Aged, White Marl, St. Catherine. This will be repeated this year in the will of the Lord. Thanks to the Youth Department who partnered with us to make this a success. SO COME ON IN.
We partnered with Men’s Department in their street meetings held overtime at various locations in the Portmore area last year; this will continue for this year; also in their weekly prayer sessions held on Mondays same time as ours. SO COME ON IN.
Upon invitation by this Dept. the OUR came and enlightened us about our utilities during last year. For this year we intend to do have more educational talks on topics that will assist us in or day to day living. SO YOU CAN’T STAY AWAY – COME ON IN.
By popular demand our Mother/Daughter Brunch which was off for two years, will definitely be on for this year, Saturday May 8.
